'ANDERTON 57'
We are pleased to have been chosen by the Northwich Boat Co to be their Southern Distributor.
This craft is a new build and is aimed at the buyer who is seeking a sensibly priced boat that is ready to cruise, with an underlying quality that will protect residual resale values.
BACKGROUND
The Northwich Boat Company is part of the Carefree Cruising Group, which also includes Elton Moss Boatbuilders. The business in run by Artie and Ruth Chalmers and John Pickin. Artie and Ruth’s background is in management and retail. Before setting up Carefree Cruising Artie, (a qualified Chartered Accountant) was Managing Director of a 130 strong retail chain and Ruth was an Area Manager with responsibility for 40 shops. John is a time served Cabinetmaker, who has been fitting out quality narrowboats for nearly ten years. - Potential purchasers will be invited to visit the Boatyard and see for themselves the standard of construction.

HULL & EXTERIOR
The standard boat is offered with a spacious Cruiser Stern. A feature of the aft deck design is the easy access steps to the interior. Optionally a Traditional style or Semi Traditional style aft deck is available at a small additional cost for those preferring these styles.
- All steel construction with 10mm baseplate, 6mm hull sides, 5mm cabin sides and 4mm cabin roof.
- 1 full length rubbing strake and 2 further strakes.
- Self draining front and rear decks.
- 40 gallon integral fuel tank.
- 120 gallon integral water tank (with option of stainless steel tank if required).
- Quick release weedhatch.
- Secure timber lined half glazed steel front and rear doors. Steel side doors.
- Gold anodised top hopper opening windows and portholes.
- Non slip decks and roof.
- Plank and pole holder.
- Finished in a choice of single colour with coachline (2 colour paint option available)
MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL & SYSTEMS
The standard engine is the Isuzu Marine 4LB35 35hp diesel with twin alternators(separate charging of engine and domestic battery bank), Newage PRM 120 gearbox with Vetus 'dry run' stern gland. The engine space is fitted with a 12v automatic bilge pump with manual override switch. For those who frequently cruise on fast flowing navigations an optional upgrade to the 42hp engine is available.
12v power is provided by 1 x 110ah battery dedicated to the engine, and 3 x 110ah for domestic services (lights pumps etc.). 12 v outlet in saloon. Main lighting is by way of overhead fluorescent '2D' lights, with additional wall lights in the saloon, reading lights over the double bed, combined extractor fan/ light in the bathroom and interior lighting in the galley display cupboard.
The boat is wired for 240v with brass twin sockets in the bedroom galley (2) and saloon. RCD and MCB circuit protection with conventional exterior hook up socket. If required a 1500w or 3000w inverter can be fitted as an option.
Cabin heating is provided by a Mikuni diesel fired central heating boiler with radiators in the bedroom, saloon and galley, and a heated towel rail / radiator in the bathroom. Hot water is provided from a calorifier (hot water tank) which can be heated by the Mikuni, or by the engine. (The engine heats a full tank of water in 15 - 20 minutes. Think of that the next time you are on a motorway!). And should it get really cold there is also a solid fuel stove in the saloon.
INTERIOR
The interior of the hull is fully insulated with sprayfoam.
The cabin linings are in varnished oak veered panelling, with solid oak trim. This creates a warm and light interior with materials that have been time proved for the sometimes harsh conditions of boats. At some point or another everyone forgets to pull the slide closed in a rain shower!
The floors are fully carpeted, with the exception of the galley which has a solid pine varnished floorboards, and the bathroom which is in vinyl. Lined curtains are hung at the windows on brass rails with brass 'holdbacks'.
There are several colour co-ordinated interior schemes from which to chose, which includes the carpeting, curtains, work surfaces and tiling.
The saloon can be fitted with several options. A dinette can be provided which is designed to convert into a double berth for 'guest' use. The format can be 'L' shaped (1 long and 1 short seat at right angles), or 'Pullman' style (2 seats opposite). Also hanging space can be augmented with two full height wardrobes against the forward bulkhead each side of the front doors.
LAYOUT
The standard boat has berthing for 2 in a double cabin aft. The boat is laid out as below, starting from the rear entry.
DOUBLE CABIN
The steps into the cabin have been designed to give easy access withourt having to have the agility of a limbo dancer.
The fixed double bed with copious storage below is to port. Full height wardrobe with with hanging rail and further additional cupboard space by the steps. High level shelf over bed head with reading lights incorporated below.
A door can close off the corridor forward for privacy.
BATHROOM.
The fittings include a porcelain (not plastic) hand basin set into post formed work top, and timber framed mirror on bulkhead.
Shower cubicle with shower head and shower curtain. 12v discharge pump. Heated towel rail. Thetford electric flush cassette toilet. (A pump out style is available). 12v extractor fan with integral light.
A bathroom upgrade is available with large 900 x 760mm shower tray and glass shower enclosure.
GALLEY.
The galley is 'U' shaped to port. It comprises a post formed work surface with timber drawers and cupboards below. The forward section of work surface is extended to provide a 'breakfast bar'.
Full size 4 ring gas cooker with glass hinged lid and grill and oven below. Inset twin stainless steel round bowl and separate drainer. Mixer tap. Full sized 12v refrigerator under worktop.
Fully tiled splash back. Glass fronted display cupboard at high level on the aft bulkhead.
SALOON.
The saloon is designed to accept free standing furniture. Options available include a 'Pullman' or 'L' shaped dinette facility which can convert to a double berth for occasional use.
At the forward end of the saloon is a half height shelf / cupboard unit ideally suited for a TV or sound system. To this end 240v, 12 volt and TV aerial sockets are provided.
The solid fuel stove is mounted to port on a hearth with tiled rear and side.
Steps with storage below lead up to the forward well.
