'HARTFORD 60'
This newly designed widebeam features a twin cabin layout. It offeres a combination of contemporary finishes, whilst retaining a 'boaty' interior, which makes use of much solid oak joinery, created for time served craftsmen.
BACKGROUND
The Northwich Boat Company is part of the Carefree Cruising Group, which also includes Elton Moss Boatbuilders. The business in run by Artie and Ruth Chalmers and John Pickin. Artie and Ruth’s background is in management and retail. Before setting up Carefree Cruising Artie, (a qualified Chartered Accountant) was Managing Director of a 130 strong retail chain and Ruth was an Area Manager with responsibility for 40 shops. John is a time served Cabinetmaker, who has been fitting out quality narrowboats for nearly ten years. Carefree Cruising is a sonundly based company that will offer our clients the quality of service that we would expect ourselves. As part of the long term development of the Company, a manufacturing base has been set up in the Republic of Czechoslovakia, and it is here that these wide beam craft are built using UK sourced fittings and equipment, thus ensuring home market servicability.
HULL & EXTERIOR
The standard boat is built as a 'Narrowboat Style Widebeam'. That is to say it is similar to a normal narrowboat, but is built to be 10feet wide instead of the standard beam for a narrowboat of 6ft 10in. The vessel offeres a great deal of living space, and is ideealy suited to residential use. Do note that it cannot of course cruise on the 'narrow' canals of the UK, but is fine on the widebeam canals and riveres, and all continental waterways.
